RootsTech 2026 Watch Parties
In previous years I have been sitting at my computer watching the online presentations at RootsTech.
Whilst I am still sitting at my computer at home this year there has been one difference for some of the talks I have been watching.
I signed up to join some of the Zoom Watch Parties that the Society of Genealogists had scheduled. This means that I watched them with a group of fellow genealogists and after we watched there was a discussion about what we had viewed.
There is nothing like getting together with others that share your passion.
The ones we have watched have had a North American bias which is not surprising.
Most of the members of the Society of Genealogists are based in the United Kingdom so we have to take in to consideration that some things can translate to research here but not everything.
I really enjoyed having the opportunity to discuss with others what we took away from the presentations. We also shared other things that may be helpful to the rest of the audience including other RootsTech presentations.
I now have a number of presentations I need to catch up with from this conference.

The presentations have been US-centric. I guess the majority of attendees are from the US. But many of us do research in the UK, etc. A few sessions on UK research would have been helpful.
Which sessions did you enjoy the most?
